How to Join the
1st Sandstone Scout Group
The Scout Movement is a voluntary organisation and all adults give their time free of charge. The whole Movement cannot operate without adults prepared to help. We are always grateful for any help, however small. You may, for instance, not wish to enter into any formal role but have skills, knowledge or experience which we can use. On the other hand you may wish to become a uniformed Leader but not be able to commit to more that one or two evenings each term. In both cases we would be delighted to hear from you. If you can offer any help on either a regular or an occasional basis, or you know anyone else who can help, please let us know.

JOINING as a BEAVER, CUB or SCOUT
Young people aged between
5¾ and 14 join one of the Sections. If they are between 5¾ and
7 they belong to the Beaver Colony; from 8 to 9 they belong to the Cub Pack
and from 10 to 13 they belong to the Scout Troop. If they are between 14 and
17 they may join the Explorer Scouts. In the 1st Sandstone Scout Group it
is usual for Beaver Scouts to take up all vacancies which arise in the Cub
Pack, and for Cub Scouts to take up all vacancies which arise in the Scout
Troop. It is not normally possible, therefore, for a young person to join
the Cub Pack or Scout Troop unless they joined as a Beaver Scout. We do, however,
try our best to find a place for a young person whose parent is a Leader or
a member of the Executive Committee, or who is moving into the area and was
a Beaver, Cub or Scout before they moved.
