NOTE: the Cheshire Hike has been updated and relaunched this year - changes are included below and have been emailed to everyone eligible to take part.

The Cheshire Hike is an annual competition open to all Scouts and Guides in Cheshire and the Wirral. The 2020 Hike will be the 54th Cheshire Hike!

The Hike is a 2 day/1 night hike over 30, 40, 50 or 60 km (depending on age). Participants take part in teams of 2 - 5. The two older sections carry their own food and equipment while the toungest section may opt to have their kit transported for them. All teams hike for the two days navigating along the designated route via a number of checkpoints which they must reach within a given time window. Safety is taken very seriously and participants who get into any sort of trouble will be rescued! 15 members of the Group have now taken part in (and completed) the Hike, some more than once! They can tell anyone who is interested what it is like.

The Cheshire Hike is a real challenge for all those who take part but with careful planning and preparation and good training you can succeed. There will be a real sense of achievement when you complete this special challenge.

Teams are made up of 2 - 5 Scouts and enter in one of these categories:

Category Distance
Pathfinder (10.5 - 12.5) 30 km
Pathfinder+ (12.5 - 14) 40 km
Explorer (14 - 18) 50 km (+ optional 10 km)
